Work is underway on 40 new council homes in East Kilbride.

A range of two, three and four bedroom family homes will be built alongside two bedroom cottage flats suitable for older people or those with mobility needs at Eaglesham View in Jackton.

The new homes are being constructed by Barratt Homes West Scotland for the council and aim to accommodate a range of housing needs for the area.

The new homes are funded jointly by the council and the Scottish Government’s Affordable Housing Supply Programme.

Chair of the council’s Housing and Technical Resources Committee, Councillor Davie McLachlan, was joined by council officials and representatives from Barratt Homes West Scotland, to mark the start of work.

Councillor McLachlan said: “I’m delighted that we are continuing to increase the number of high-quality affordable homes available across South Lanarkshire through developments just like this one.

“When complete, these homes will be a welcome addition to the council’s housing stock.”

Andy Curran, Managing Director, Barratt Homes West Scotland, said: “We’re proud to be working in partnership with South Lanarkshire Council to deliver these much-needed new homes to Jackton at our development, Eaglesham View.

“At Barratt Homes West Scotland, we are committed to providing high-quality, sustainable housing that supports the needs of local communities across Scotland, both now and for future generations.

“This development will deliver a mix of homes designed to meet a range of housing needs, helping to create a well-connected and welcoming neighbourhood where people and families can enjoy living for many years to come.”

The homes are anticipated to be completed in early 2027.
